Deciding to self-publish my book has been exciting, but I am definitely seeing that I have a LOT to learn! Anyone that is considering this journey needs to be ready to do a lot of research and try to set some short term and long term goals. There will be times when you send a random picture to all your subscribers by accident, while trying to set up an image gallery. Just like what I did moments ago. This keeps you humble!
One strategy that I have found that helps me is called 5 a day. It is important to find 5 ways to further develop, edit, and market your work. As soon as I decided to tackle this plan, immediately the distractions and “emergencies” creep in. Most people that are writing have a day job, which rightfully takes up a lot of effort and energy. For me, it is teaching, and our state test is looming- ready to attack next week. After the conference in New York, I have felt strongly that I need to take advantage of the momentum I felt there, and continue to be productive….everyday.
My book- “Cyber wink: Online Dating Stories my Friends beg me to Tell Them” will realistically be available June 1st. Thanks to my friend and master editor, Jen Mares, who has agreed to perform the final edit on my manuscript over Easter weekend. By the way, that last post that got sent out by mistake is a picture of us enjoying a Spring Break vacation in New Orleans. I am working on creating a page where you all can share your dating disaster stories with me, since you all get to hear about my dirt!
